Dr Geethani Galagoda joined Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics (LHD) as the Head of Laboratories, in August 2016, where she also heads the Serology section of the Department of Microbiology at LHD. She completed her MD in 2000 and her post graduate training at the prestigious Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, in the USA. Dr. Galagoda was appointed as a consultant virologist at the Medical Research Institute (MRI) where she had worked as a medical officer. While working here, she also went on to head the Measles and Rubella National Laboratory, Rotavirus National Laboratory, Japanese Encephalitis National Laboratory and the Hepatitis Laboratory.
In the academic sphere, Dr. Galagoda has several publications and scientific presentations under her name and she has provided consultative services to the Ministry of Health, where she has operated as an undergraduate and postgraduate teacher and examiner in the fields of Microbiology, Virology, Pathology, Venereology and Transfusion Medicine.
Her contribution to science is not limited to Microbiology. She was also the Secretary of the Research Committee and the Ethics Review Committee of the MRI for 5 years. She has been an active member of the Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists and she is also a founding member of the Allergy and Immunology Society of Sri Lanka. She also presently holds the position of Secretary and Vice President of the Vaccine Forum of Sri Lanka.
She was one of the editors of SLMA Guidelines and Information on Vaccines, in 2017 and the Chief Editor of the Biosafety for Medical Laboratories published by the Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists.
Dr. Galagoda, has always been committed to achieving quality and service excellence at LHD, by working diligently to ensure that LHD receives and maintains the prestigious accreditation awarded by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

Dr. Rohini Wadanamby is the Consultant Clinical Microbiologist who is currently heading the Microbiology Department of LHD. She also utilises her expertise to manage patients with infections that are referred from Lanka Hospitals.
Currently, she is registered to practice medicine under the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC Registration - 9694) and General Medical Council (GMC Registration - 7010390), UK.
After obtaining her postgraduate qualifications in Clinical Microbiology, she completed her foreign training in Infectious Disease and Clinical Microbiology at the combined unit of St Georges NHS Trust in London from 2008 to 2009. Thereafter, she worked in the sphere of Infectious Disease and Clinical Microbiology at the combined unit of Princes Royal and Brighton and Sussex NHS Trust, Hayward Heath, UK.
In Sri Lanka she worked as a Consultant Clinical Microbiologist in the Kandy Teaching Hospital, National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), until her early retirement. During this period, she also provided her services to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and Colombo East Base Hospital (CEBH).
She was also involved in many national level Microbiology Services embarked in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Postgraduate Institute of health and College of Microbiologists. She was involved in post graduate and undergraduate teaching, research works in relation to Microbiology and has several publications in Sri Lanka and overseas.
Dr. Wadanamby has supervised and reviewed many post graduate microbiology trainees who have conducted very valuable research projects. She was involved in many social working groups for the betterment of patients as well as institutions where she worked with much passion and dedication.
Following her early retirement from government service she joined LHD as a Consultant Clinical Microbiologist with the challenging task of obtaining the CAP accreditation by implementing quality and service excellence standards over her department. Now, after obtaining the prestigious CAP accreditation she works tirelessly in maintaining CAP standards for a vast array of microbiology diagnostics while introducing and validating new tests.
She is another invaluable member of the LHD group of consultants who are tremendously committed to our success.
