Dr Geethani Galagoda joined Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics (LHD) as the Head of Laboratories, in August 2016, where she also heads the Serology section of the Department of Microbiology at LHD. She completed her MD in 2000 and her post graduate training at the prestigious Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, in the USA. Dr. Galagoda was appointed as a consultant virologist at the Medical Research Institute (MRI) where she had worked as a medical officer. While working here, she also went on to head the Measles and Rubella National Laboratory, Rotavirus National Laboratory, Japanese Encephalitis National Laboratory and the Hepatitis Laboratory.
In the academic sphere, Dr. Galagoda has several publications and scientific presentations under her name and she has provided consultative services to the Ministry of Health, where she has operated as an undergraduate and postgraduate teacher and examiner in the fields of Microbiology, Virology, Pathology, Venereology and Transfusion Medicine.
Her contribution to science is not limited to Microbiology. She was also the Secretary of the Research Committee and the Ethics Review Committee of the MRI for 5 years. She has been an active member of the Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists and she is also a founding member of the Allergy and Immunology Society of Sri Lanka. She also presently holds the position of Secretary and Vice President of the Vaccine Forum of Sri Lanka.
She was one of the editors of SLMA Guidelines and Information on Vaccines, in 2017 and the Chief Editor of the Biosafety for Medical Laboratories published by the Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists.
Dr. Galagoda, has always been committed to achieving quality and service excellence at LHD, by working diligently to ensure that LHD receives and maintains the prestigious accreditation awarded by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

Dr. Rohini Wadanamby
Consultant Clinical Microbiologist
MBBS, Diploma in Medical Microbiology, MD in Medical Microbiology
Dr. Rohini Wadanamby is the Consultant Clinical Microbiologist who is currently heading the Microbiology Department of LHD. She also utilises her expertise to manage patients with infections that are referred from Lanka Hospitals.
Currently, she is registered to practice medicine under the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC Registration - 9694) and General Medical Council (GMC Registration - 7010390), UK.
After obtaining her postgraduate qualifications in Clinical Microbiology, she completed her foreign training in Infectious Disease and Clinical Microbiology at the combined unit of St Georges NHS Trust in London from 2008 to 2009. Thereafter, she worked in the sphere of Infectious Disease and Clinical Microbiology at the combined unit of Princes Royal and Brighton and Sussex NHS Trust, Hayward Heath, UK.
In Sri Lanka she worked as a Consultant Clinical Microbiologist in the Kandy Teaching Hospital, National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), until her early retirement. During this period, she also provided her services to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and Colombo East Base Hospital (CEBH).
She was also involved in many national level Microbiology Services embarked in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Postgraduate Institute of health and College of Microbiologists. She was involved in post graduate and undergraduate teaching, research works in relation to Microbiology and has several publications in Sri Lanka and overseas.
Dr. Wadanamby has supervised and reviewed many post graduate microbiology trainees who have conducted very valuable research projects. She was involved in many social working groups for the betterment of patients as well as institutions where she worked with much passion and dedication.
Following her early retirement from government service she joined LHD as a Consultant Clinical Microbiologist with the challenging task of obtaining the CAP accreditation by implementing quality and service excellence standards over her department. Now, after obtaining the prestigious CAP accreditation she works tirelessly in maintaining CAP standards for a vast array of microbiology diagnostics while introducing and validating new tests.
She is another invaluable member of the LHD group of consultants who are tremendously committed to our success.
Dr. Harsha Goonatilleke
Senior Manager - Diagnostics
Doctor of Medicine (MD) (Russian State Medical University of Moscow), Certificate Training in Forensic Medicine (Judicial Medical Office, Colombo), MBA (Cardiff Metropolitan University)
Dr. Harsha Goonatilleke embarked his career at LHD as an Executive in Diagnostics and Hospital Services in 2002. In 2006 he went on to become the Head of Sample Collections & Assistant Manager Diagnostics and Laboratory Services and in 2014 he was promoted to Manager - Diagnostics. From 2016 to date he operates as the Senior Manager - Diagnostics of LHD and is responsible for customer service delivery, resource utilisation, maintaining quality standards and the smooth operation of all functions relating to diagnostics.
He is also responsible for the overall administration and supervision of regional laboratories and COCOs, coordinating new projects such as commissioning of new regional or mini laboratories and COCO’s with in house and outscored parties, coordinating with the retail, corporate marketing department of LHD and LHC medical unit on aspects of sample collection and Laboratory services, providing professional advices on maintaining quality standards to LHD COCO’s, Regional Lab, Mini Laboratories and Franchise Collection centres, Providing support and advice regarding operational activities to Regional and Mini Laboratories. Closely coordinating with Laboratory Consultants on day to day operational matters. He is also in charge of introducing and intituling mobile sample collection units.
Dr. Harsha also takes leadership when it comes to quality assurance and advises the management on purchasing laboratory equipment, reagents and consumables. He played a lead role in coordinating and supervising the development of a Quality Manual for Accreditation of Medical/ Clinical Laboratories - ISO 15189 and CAP accreditation. He also played a lead role in implementing 5’S and Quality concepts in Diagnostics and Laboratory Services.
He is an active member of the Lanka Hospitals Executive committee (EXCO) 2006-2009, member of the Management committee of Lanka Hospitals and member of the Strategic committee of LHD. He is also a member of the Food Safety Management team which contributed to the achievement of the ISO 22000 Certification, Crowns for food Hygiene Certification and Halal Certification for food safety. He is also a team member of the Environment Management System team which contributed to the achievement of the ISO 14001:2004 standard. He is also a team member of the JCIA Committee.
Dr. Harsha is also closely involved in the performance appraisals of laboratory staff members and plays a highly valued role in the effective management of the diagnostic operations at LHD, in line with the highest quality standards.
Mr. Sandun Wajira Kumara
Senior Manager - Finance

As the Finance Manager of LHD Mr. Sandun Wajira Kumara is responsible of ensuring that our finances are managed in an effective manner. He plays a key role in managing our cash flow, assets and liabilities to ensure that proper working capital is maintained and we have sufficient funds for investing in new technology, training and other activities that can lift the standards of our laboratory to greater heights.
Mr. Sandun has over 13 years of experience in the finance field and he has worked in reputed organizations such as Brandix and AC Nielsen, in senior executive roles.
As the Marketing Manager of LHD Mr. Thotawatte has over 17 years’ experience in the areas of marketing, brand management, communication, product development / product launch, commissioning research, training staﬀ, budgeting, customer and media research, event handling, B2B / B2C marketing, online marketing and launch of sales competitions / consumer promotions and strategic planning.
His managerial experience spans over a year in LHD, 9 years in Union Assurance and 3 years in Ceylinco Life. He obtained his executive experience whilst working at MTV Channels (Pvt.) Ltd and Metroof (Pvt.) Ltd.
Mr. Thotawatte has also enhanced his skills by undergoing training in digital marketing, branding of services, key account management, leadership development, project management and social/business etiquettes, NLP, advanced presentation skills and team building. Additionally, he has attended international conferences in marketing and other business topics to further his extensive knowledge in the field.
Mr. Ryan De Lile
Manager - Business Operations

As the Business Operations Manager of LHD Mr. De Lile has 9 years of experience in a Customer Service environment and the Sales and Marketing field in the Telecommunications Sector, 5 years of experience in the Courier industry, 3 year of experience in Human Resource Management and 2 years of experience in Secretariat work.
He has extensive knowledge in human resource management, training and development, all aspects of Customer Care and has been training new recruits regarding operational aspects of the organization for over 5 years.
AT LHD he is responsible for adding new potential collection centres in operational areas and untapped markets, to widen our reach, so that we can provide better services to our customers, maintaining a clear communication network with regional labs and ensuring that they are operating effectively, franchising Sample Collection Centres and Path Labs located in different cities in order to improve Turn-Around Time (TAT) while ensuring that they are adhering to relevant quality and operational standards, ensuring cost effectiveness and sample integrity and designing and implementing a fast track sample collection network by combining the operational capacity of Company Owned Company Operated (COCOs) units and Regional Labs.
Additionally, he is also responsible for the selection and purchasing of reagents, chemicals and all forms of grade packing materials as per IATA standards. He also manages a team of Sales Development Associates effectively to achieve the expected TAT and deliver service excellence to our customer. Mr. De Lile coordinates with local and international courier services in transportation of samples within Sri Lanka and overseas and ensures that they are safely transported in line with the set standards.
He also adds immense value to LHD by establishing and monitoring specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems. This includes creating policies and procedures for logistics activities, planning or implement material flow management systems to meet production requirements, resolving challenges concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues, monitoring product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements, direct distribution centre operation to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness objectives, direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management, direct or coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources.
His unparallel contribution to LHD has enabled us to continuously improve the value created by our supply-chain to provide unmatched customer service to our customers through process improvement.
Mr. Oshan Tharanga
Manager - IT
MBA (MOT), BSc (Hons) Technology Management & Computing (UoP, UK)
As the Manager of ICT at Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics Laboratory, Mr. Tharanga currently oversees the Core Business Process, Procurement, Finance, Human Resource, Customer Care and Quality Assurance activities linked with the IT systems. In order to ensure the smooth functioning of the business operations, Mr. Tharanga spearheads the implementation of the most advanced hardware and software based redundancy, data security, database maintenance and frequent audits to ensure Data Confidentiality and Integrity in the organization.
Mr. Tharanga’s impressive career in ICT spans over 10 years in Financial and Telecommunication Technology where he played a number of roles as Network Administrator, Solutions Architect and in Engineering.
With a strong foundation in Technology Management and Computing, Mr. Tharanga is also certified as a Network Professional, IPS Specialist, Microsoft Certified Professional, Ethical Hacker and Python Programmer.
Mr. Tharanga is an invaluable asset as we strive to become a technically advanced Diagnostic Laboratory.
Mr. W.L Susantha
Manager - Quality Assurance
MSc. Applied Microbiology, Bachelor of Science Honours (2nd class upper)
As the Quality Assurance Manager of LHD Mr. W.L Susantha is responsible for ensuring that LHD adheres to the stringent quality standards set by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Equipped with a Msc. in Applied Microbiology and a Bachelor’s degree in Science from the University of Keleniya, and with over 20 years of experience in the medical laboratory industry, Mr. Susantha is a valuable member of the staff that ensures that we maintain our CAP accreditation, ISO 15189 accreditation and our undisputed reputation for quality.
Mr. Susantha holds a Certificate of proficiency for Medical Laboratory Technology from the Sri Lanka Medical College Council, Faculty of Medicine – University of Colombo. He is a registered Medical Laboratory Technologist at SLMC (Reg. No. 980) and a Trainee Technical Assessor for assessing Medical Laboratories on ISO 15189 for Sri Lanka Accreditation Board.
He has also participated in number of training programmes conducted by Institutions such as the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board, MRI and Faculty of Medicine – University of Colombo, as well as many in-house training programmes conducted by foreign and Sri Lankan specialists in Sri Lanka, to enhance his knowledge.
His in-depth technical knowledge and his managerial skills has assisted LHD immensely in maintaining quality standards in our laboratory procedures and to uphold our reputation.
Mr. Sarath Kumara
Manager - Technical Services
Mr. Sarath Kumara brings in over 29 years of working experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. At present Mr. Kumara operates as the Manager Technical Services at LHD and has been a catalyst in achieving a number of accolades and acreditations for LHD - namely, the ISO 15189:2007 accreditation, CAP (College of American Pathology) accreditation and the 5 S Award of the Hematology Department of LHD.
Mr. Sarath Kumara is a certified Laboratory Technician and is currently following his Executive Master’s in Business Administration from Girne American University.
